XML sitemap checker: validate and list every URL

Enter a domain or a sitemap URL to validate it, count its URLs, spot duplicates and http links, and export the full list.

What a good sitemap looks like

  • Only indexable pages: no redirects, 404s, noindex pages or duplicates.
  • HTTPS URLs on your own domain, matching your canonical tags.
  • Accurate lastmod dates, updated only when a page really changes.
  • Under 50,000 URLs and 50 MB per file. Larger sites use a sitemap index that lists several sitemaps.

Where to find your sitemap

PlatformUsual location
Shopify/sitemap.xml (an index of products, collections, pages and blogs)
WordPress with Yoast/sitemap_index.xml
WordPress with Rank Math/sitemap_index.xml
Wix and Squarespace/sitemap.xml

If you enter just a domain, the checker tries /sitemap.xml. For anything else, enter the full sitemap URL, or find it in your robots.txt with the robots.txt tester.

Questions people ask

Do I need a sitemap?

Small, well-linked sites can do without one, but a sitemap helps search engines find new and deep pages faster. Most sites should have one.

Should I submit my sitemap to Google?

Yes. Submit it in Search Console and list it in robots.txt.

Does Google use the priority and changefreq tags?

No. Google ignores them. Lastmod is used when it's accurate.
